Bazaruto Island is like a paradise lost, and you can only go there either spending a thousand dollar a day in an exclusive resort, or on a boat day trip from Vilanculos. We obviously choose the second option, but even without the chance of spending the night there it was a magical experience. The place is absolutely pristine and magnificent. We spent hours just walking along its shores and dunes looking at the Indian Ocean.

Mozambique holds the longest stretch of Indian Ocean coastline in Africa with some of the most unspoiled beachfront. 2600km of mostly unexplored and often unnamed beaches make this a destination for backpackers and eco-tourists.
Among these beaches two has already becoming an attraction due to the presence of some kind of touristic infrastructure: Tofo Beach and Vilanculos which lies in front of the magnificent Bazaruto Archipelago
